ELLAS MÚSICA

A music collective from San José, Costa Rica. Ellas Música CR is a platform that represents our community to promote female empowerment and inclusion within our local scene.

In 2023, we reunited to play rock songs from female artists that inspired our professional careers as musicians. From Janis Joplin to Shirley Manson, we celebrated the achievements of women in rock n’ roll music by playing two sold-out concerts. With more than 19 female musicians on stage, our statement was clear, we are here to play loud and leverage our voice to keep inspiring generations of young women to take up their instruments and rock out. We demand safer spaces, more visibility and female presence in festivals, recordings, awards, etc.
